Pros: 2xZoom possibility. Seven time epochs. Unlimited hint system. Five languages.
Cons: Monotonous tasks. Repetitious levels.
Traveling through time is possible, and if you are a bit skeptical about it, try Time Machine: Trapped in Time. The latest installment of the HdO Adventure game series takes you on an unbelievable journey through time and space. But, don’t expect to have a cake walk here, as your goal is to save humanity from chaos and restore history to it's rightful course. In Time Machine: Trapped in Time, you step into the shoes of Filby Young, an apprentice of the illustrious professor George Eiwin. Filby discovers his tutor created a time machine, but instead of glimpses into the past and future, the invention caused a breach in the time balance. While traveling throughout different time periods, the professor left several time paradoxes in various historical epochs that broke the space-time continuum. To reestablish the balance of time, you must go to seven different time periods and collect the paradoxes for Chronos, the guardian of Time. In Time Machine: Trapped in Time, you will have to explore messy locations and search for hidden items from the list, which can be either objects typical to the appropriate historical epoch or identical items. Repetitious tasks are reinforced with the same items throughout the game, and each time epoch is visited twice during the game. (I had a strong feeling of déjà-vu when I had to find the items I’ve already found a couple of levels back in that very location.) One of the frustrating aspects of Time Machine: Trapped in Time is the short side of the game. It can be finished within the demo version, unlike other hidden object games that take you a long time to complete each level and move on to another. Still, Time Machine: Trapped in Time has a nice innovative trick – 2xZoom enlargement of the location. It is handy for finding small items that you would otherwise miss. The amount of hints is unlimited and after using help once just wait until it reloads again, another great change from other hidden object games out there today. If the story seems to be familiar that's because it is close to the Mortimer Becket series, which also has you traveling through time (Mortimer Beckett and the Time Paradox). But apart from the story line being different, there are not many aspects to compare in these two games. Time Machine: Trapped in Time is a pure hidden object game. As mentioned above, Time Machine: Trapped in Time is a game from the HdO Adventures collection. If you have already played at least one of the games from the series, you’ll find the familiar art style from other games. From the first look, the locations can seem too gloomy and obscure to play, but while traveling to different periods you’ll see colorful and sharp graphics. Everything depends on the epoch you are currently in. So, give it a try and see if you can save humanity from those pesky paradoxes by reestablishing the balance of time!
