Will you win their favor? Will you become an honored Roman? You play Marcus, a daring young man, who goes travels to the great city of Rome in search for a better life. On his way, Marcus saves a -- what else? -- beautiful lady from a savage wolf, but someone hits him on the head and he passes out to wake up and find himself tied to a tree. If it weren't for the kindness of a stranger, who knows how long he would've been stuck. Octavio frees Marcus from the ropes and leads the way to Rome. En route, Marcus hears about the stolen imperial relics and that the Emperor promises his daughter's hand to anyone who finds the relics. Your task is to explore each location, find hidden items, solve quests, seek out the imperial relics and honor the Romans’ request. Helping Romans with their tasks helps you gain your status in Rome and boost your popularity. If you want to reach a higher social status, you need to look the part. How? Buy new clothes and accessories at the market with the coins you find. Every scene hides five coins. So pay attention to earn more. Finding hidden objects makes up the main part of Romance Of Rome. When entering a scene, you see a taskbar at the bottom of the screen that lists items you need to find. Some objects have a green highlight. These enter your inventory after you find them for later use in solving a quest or fulfilling someone’s request. Beware that items can be used in different locations, so you'll need to shift between scenes trying to solve quests. Romance Of Rome hidden object scenes will challenge everyone including experienced players. Some items hide very well or blend smoothly into the background to make them hard to see. But the game compensates for the difficulty with unlimited hints that recharge quickly and unlimited play time for each scene. No puzzles or mini-games are available in Romance Of Rome. Instead, you solve challenging inventory-based quests. For example, find cheese to drive off rats or a hammer to forge horseshoes. These quests not only fit into the plot, but they also help unravel it.
One of the most pleasing aspects of Romance Of Rome is the attention to detail. All the hidden items fit right in with the scenery as opposed to other games that have odd, out of place objects having nothing to do with the story or period. Playing Romance Of Rome is literally a rewarding experience. You get a chance to win unique trophies and publish them online. There are 27 trophies in all. Earning one requires reaching specific goals. You receive Jupiter's Crown, for example, when you find 25 items within a minute. Collect 32 hidden items in a row to get The Moon of Diana. It’s not necessary to have all the trophies to win Romance Of Rome, but you can replay the game to get more trophies.
Romance Of Rome has rich and bright graphics, personable characters, colorful comics and great voice acting. The story captivates by being dynamic and unpredictable while it has a satisfying ending. The polished and refined game has a gorgeous atmosphere that immerses players in a beautiful love story taking place in ancient times.
Catching and addicting hidden object) I liked everything about Romance Of Rome and especially the art work. Not long ago discovered another HO by Awem: Golden Trails: The New Western RushGolden Trails: The New Western Rush. According to the screens it’ll be a fun game.
Pros: Challenging, re-playable, winnable trophies, good graphics and background music, buy-able clothing to make up way 'up' in society
Cons: Too short, limited interactivity in the 'shopping' experience
Comment: Now, this game I throughly enjoyed. Not too hard, while still being able to challenge me at the same time. I do wish that they had more options when buying items to 'enhance' your status. Being able to customize what you look like while still climbing the ladder would have made this game oh so much better. However, the pros far outweigh the cons for me. The graphics are wonderful, even on 17-21 in monitor screens. Plus, the cut scenes were comic styles but voiced over pretty well as far as standard HoG games go. For the casual gamer, this game might appear too hard via the Hidden Objects, but if your looking for a challenge, or are already a professional, then this one is definitely worth taking a second look.
