Much-talked-of sequel to the Mortimer Beckett series is about to be launched. Let’s have a sneak peek at the Mortimer Beckett and the Lost King game and see what is awaiting players this time.
The two first installments took us to the unbelievable journeys through time and space. Having returned the misplaced items to their proper historical epochs in The Time Paradox, Mortimer Beckett was on his way home. When, suddenly, got into a strange place… the kingdom of Zantya. It happened that 30 years ago the righteousness king of Zantya went missing. And the king’s crown carrying eight magical jewels was the only thing left. Now, the gems are scattered across the kingdom. Travel through the mysterious kingdom and assemble the crown. And maybe you’ll help the lost king come back home!
Mortimer Beckett 3 preserves its original gameplay. The basic task remains searching for the hidden objects. Arrived in a new location, find the asked items. This time you are asked to find the items like they are shown in the inventory panel. As compared with The Time Paradox where players were asked to seek for a number of different pieces and assemble them before using. Maybe some of players will like this novelty as it make the items easier to locate. But at the same time the game lose some challenge.
Some of found objects will help you solve puzzles: perform some actions using available items in order to reveal the hidden object.
What also distinguishes Mortimer Beckett from most of games of the genre is the approach to the puzzles. Like in The Time Paradox players are welcome to roam about the locations within a certain area (while in Mortimer Beckett and the Secrets of the Spooky Manor players have no much choice and must solve all the puzzles before moving on to the next location). This helps to leave the scene opened for a while and continue searching other locations without getting really stuck. The Lost King game boast of a set of various interesting mini games. They come from a jigsaw to restoring the stained-glass window and more. Most of mini games are presented as puzzles. To solve some of them you have to find hidden objects before and perform actions with items you have collected.
Sometimes Mortimer discovers interesting facts that can help you solve puzzles. Information is copied to the notebook, which you can access at any time by clicking it.
Besides, the game has an unlimited hint system (if you remember, the original Mortimer Beckett offers a limited number of hints). Just wait until the hint meter recharges and it’ll help you find the item you are looking for. Just note, the hints can’t be used to solve the puzzles.
There are eight various areas with 4 to 5 locations each. Besides, several times you’ll need to move deeper into a location to explore it further. Use the map to choose the necessary scene.

Great addition to the Mortimer series!!! Now that I've played the demo, I'm glad Paprikari took their time with this game. Mortimer fans should not be disappointed!
