Pros: Absorbing storyline. Fresh puzzles and tasks. Mixing real life with the supernatural. Cons: Confusing puzzles. Impossible to find some items. Slow hint recharging. Hints don't work for all puzzles. Have you ever wanted to see the future fortunes using runes or faced something unexplained and unknown in your life? Journalist Journey: The Eye of Odin gives you a great opportunity to experience new adventures filled with mystery and magic in its thrilling hidden object game.
After a long day of work, Cathy sits back in a relaxing tea garden when glowing symbols appear on the walls and the Northern Lights are shine in the sky. The journalist knows this is going to be a headliner of a story. As soon as Cathy starts investigating, she learns about a strange murder in the city that may be a sacrifice.
At first glance, Journalist Journey: The Eye of Odin resembles a classic hidden object game. Delve deeper and you discover fresh and fun puzzles never seen in other games. For example, you sort pictures based on a theme such as "Celtic culture" and "Ancient Gods," or search for information using the Internet or send SMS messages by repeating the pattern on the cell phone.
Still, most of the puzzles remain traditional, but they weave nicely into the plot. The integration makes you feel like you're inside the story and participant in the game. The game has a few traditional mini-games including rotation puzzles, tracing a pattern or taking snapshots. Those puzzles tend to be easy.
Journalist Journey: The Eye of Odin hidden object tasks don't always stick to simply finding items on the list. It also has inventory-based tasks that appear somewhere in the scene of a hidden object puzzle. Some items hide in boxes or containers so that you can zoom in these areas to see or use an item from your inventory.
At the end of each location, you do a puzzle involving the inventory items you collected or backtracking to find something you need to solve the puzzle. After solving the puzzle, you gain a new inventory item or a fact that will help your investigation.
For the most part, Journalist Journey: The Eye of Odin isn't hard. While locating most items come easy, some objects hide too well. Furthermore, the hint meter recharges very slowly.
Some inventory-based games are vague and hints don't help with these. A location can hide two similar items, such as two arrows, but only one works. When looking for a pearl or a gem, it can be hard to tell the difference.
The game contains a nice map that shows the location you’ve already visited or need to visit. The great in-game journal comes in handy so you can keep track of the story and view the completed and incompleted tasks.
The lovely artwork and beautiful locationsin Journalist Journey: The Eye of Odin take you to hotel rooms, cafes, old villages and ancient ruins. The cut-scenes reveal the story and cast of characters who appear randomly to help or support the plot.
Journalist Journey: The Eye of Odin hidden object game is a pleasant experience full of fun puzzles and a captivating storyline. It mixes real life with the supernatural to stir people’s imagination.
