Pros: Famous story told from a different perspective. Great mix of tasks, puzzles and quests. Nice artwork and voice-overs.
Cons: Too much backtracking.
Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll makes it way to casual games. Fiction Fixers: Adventures in Wonderland isn't the first game inspired by the famous children's book. Although the game follows the book's plot, the story introduces a different perspective. A member of the Illiterati launches an evil scheme to spoil Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. As a Fiction Fixer Cadet, you're assigned to a high priority case where your task is to thwart Illiterati’s plan. One of the department's finest agents goes with you on your surreal adventure to Wonderland. You’ll meet Alice, the White Rabbit, the Red Queen and all the other bright characters of the book. You'll help fix the story of the well known tale. Fiction Fixers: Adventures in Wonderland is a hidden object game with elements of adventure and tons of puzzles. It marvelously combines mini-games, puzzles, hidden object tasks, quests together with the plot. The game has many hidden object tasks. You may need to remove items of the same type from a scene, swords, sharp stones, saws, iron spikes, for example. Or it can be a list of diverse objects such as buttons, cakes, ink, teapots and others. However, as soon as one of the characters needs your help, you receive real quest-like tasks. You may need to find the White Rabbit’s gloves and ruffled collar or fix his pocket watch, prepare shrinking potions or get cakes for Alice. Such tasks challenge and involve inventory-based puzzles, but they require too much going back and forth between locations, which becomes irritating. Fiction Fixers: Adventures in Wonderland mini-games range from ordinary Simon-like games and jigsaw puzzles to original tasks such as mini-golf or catching heavy objects while falling down the Rabbit Hole to reach the bottom a bit faster. That may sound slightly ridiculous, but it’s a fairy tale! Because you need to revisit a location several times to solve a certain quest, it's easy to get lost. You need a very good memory to navigate the long paths. Thankfully, Fiction Fixers: Adventures in Wonderland provides a nice solution with the game map. It shows where you are, and the locations of the hidden object scenes, mini-games and puzzles. Since the map is only a map and not a teleportation device, you still need to work your way to wherever you need to go. The game takes you to fairy tale places while incorporating the colorful characters from the book. Add the high quality voice-overs and the well-polished artwork, and you have an alluring game in Fiction Fixers: Adventures in Wonderland.
