Fashion Apprenticeis a hidden object game (HOG) with, obviously, a fashion theme that has a nice plot, young hero and unusual graphics. Actually, the game will attract 10-year-old girls. If were a 10-year-old girl, it would be my favorite HOG.
Fashion Apprentice opens with Anna visiting her aunt who works in the fashion business. The conversation explains that the girl is studying to be a lawyer, but doesn't enjoy her studies and has no desire to be a lawyer like her father. So, the gracious aunt finds a job for her young niece to give her a chance to try something new.
The plot gradually unfolds and reveals Anna's success in Fashion Apprentice. The short dialogue between Anna and other characters tells the story. She talks on the phone, meets people and participates in fashion shootings.
Every small part of the story comes with a task. The game makes every effort to change up the hidden object game play. It has you searching for glamour and fashion items like necklaces, boas, beads, earrings, handbags, lipsticks, etc. Among this stuff, you will sometimes need to find apples, oranges, cell phones, reels of thread or pencils.
Sometimes you search for items by theme. In one level, you need to find all the food in the kitchen. Then, you compare two pictures side-by-side or find items based on their shapes. Not innovative? But it diversifies the game play and it'll impress you in how the game mixes and combine tasks. You won’t have a chance to be bored!
A very different feature in Fashion Apprentice is that the location isn't static. Some items are animated and you can only move these animated items or turn them on or off. You can switch off a working fan, draw curtains or look inside bags and chests. Turn off the lamps to see something that might not be visible in the bright light.
Fashion Apprentice comes with special levels where you need to dress models for an occasion like a Halloween party or wedding for your magazine's cover picture.
You have limited time and this one gives time penalties for random clicking. You can use hints as long as the hint is fully charged and it takes a while to fill back up. Thankfully, there are several bonuses to help with your tasks. The ‘candy’ bonus refills the hint bar faster, while the ‘clock’ bonus gives you extra time to complete the level. You can get all the bonuses in locations or buy them in the shop.
A neat feature in Fashion Apprentice is the structure of the menu and availability of various menu areas. For starters, the main room – My Room lets you visit other areas of the game like Map, Shop and Wardrobe. The Map lets you see what levels you’ve played and you can replay the levels for a better score. Buy bonuses and clothes for Anna in the Shop. Then move to the Wardrobe to dress up a girl. This set up makes it easy to move to different areas.
Fashion Apprentice has another objective for you to reach. Your hero should dress chic. So, buy her the most fashionable and stylish clothes for more points. Go to the Wardrobe anytime to check out her fashion rank. Not happy with her rank? Go back and replay a couple of levels to buy better attire and improve her rank.
Fashion Apprentice has only one mini-game, which feels like a waste of time. A huge disco ball appears and items come out from behind. You click the items when they start glowing. It's dull, but at least it gets more challenging when items show up faster.
The graphics in Fashion Apprentice have a cartoonish style where pink and purple colors reign along with lots of glamour razzle-dazzle. The visuals remind me of Bratz dolls giving the game a great appeal for little girls who love Barbie and other dolls. All in all, Fashion Apprentice tries to present a nice story and diversify its game play.
Fashion Apprentice Tips and Tricks
The game hides objects not only in the location, but also in pictures, chests, handbags and even on TV.
Remember that when you need to find objects by shape objects, they can be skewed or rotated.
The hand cursor moves, opens and activates certain objects.
Find bonus items in a location or buy them in the shop.
Buy clothes in the shop and dress up you character in the Wardrobe room.
The better your character looks, the more fashion points you earn.
You can replay levels for a higher score and more fashion points.
That’s a nice game. I like a lot the gameplay. Ok, the graphics are not the best I’ve ever seen but in general the game is good. And thanks for your review.
