Wow. Just finished CoR2, first time through. Early on in the game I was thinking, Hmm. This game is a lot easier than CoE. Well, obviously that was before I got to the 'back 50' (levels)! Now I know what Tex means about the ice walls. Whew! I really like the game a lot, but I do think CoE is tougher more consistently. Maybe I'm prejudiced. Anyway, another game that is great to play, Awem. Keep them coming!

Wow !! Congratulations SisterSister !! Well done !! And right, difficulty gets tougher and tougher.
Personally, I find this one more difficult than Cradle of Egypt, because we're obliged to play against the clock. And I am not comfortable with it, coz' I'm not good enough to collect lots of resources in each game... So... I really admire those of you who manage to play it to the end
Yesterday, I think it took me 2 or 3 hours before I could buy a new building, then get the character attached to that building. Too tough for me, though I like the game !!

Congratulations, Sister! Well done. Look at that trophy count go up, up and up!
This is what I saw as the main differences between the two which makes them kinda even out in difficulty. In COR2, although the levels get really difficult in the second half of the game, it's harder to get all of the citizens because you don't have the resource bonuses that COE offers. And it's also more difficult to get all of the trophies because you can't lose a life. It's easier to accumulate lives in COR2, (because you make them for every 50,000 points scored, compared to 100,000 in COE), but you can't lose one. And since the resouces are more difficult to accumulate, it's easy to be in a position where you have lots of lives and not enough resources when you hit a difficult board and need to buy time.

Thank you! Listen, I know what you mean about the timed games. I'm older and have rotten vision, even with glasses, and it throws me off and makes me slow. I played Cradle of Egypt several times in relaxed mode and was pretty resigned that there were trophies that I never was going to win. Then one day I decided just to try timed mode and if it was impossible and I got too frustrated, I'd just abandon ship. It took some doing, but when I scored a little success, I felt encouraged to keep pushing on and eventually I won all the trophies. Man, I couldn't have felt better if I'd won the lottery and American Idol all on the same day! You know what you feel comfortable with, but I'd encourage you to just try one level a day if necessary until you complete the game. You might be surprised at what you can do.

Thank you, Tex! I think your assessment is probably true. I didn't get the trophy for not losing a life during the whole game, but the thing is I could have if I had looked before I leaped. Early in the game when I had 6 or 7 lives, I got in a jam and along came the pop up telling me that I needed to use resources to buy more time. I clicked without even really looking, intending to buy time, but I clicked on the wrong option and surrendered a life instead of a few buckets of water or whatever. Next time through, I will pay attention to what I click on! But I enjoyed the game and was actually surprised that I won as many trophies as I did. Awem strikes again! One thing about CoE that I definitely like more is the game play in it is noisier. I like the crashes and racket when the walls and chains break. CoR2 doesn't make as much noise, except for the ice walls being destroyed, but the sound of those walls coming down is music to the ears.

Thank you, SisterSister for your encouragements !! And of course, I'll keep on trying. BTW, I've played CoR2 many hours already, and got quite a number of achievements. So I understand what you mean. True, it's so rewarding to get these trophies in the end And regarding your wrong click that cost you one life... I had the same problem yesterday !! So frustrating !!
But still, since I'm not so familiar with Match-3, and rather slow, I have more fun with CoE, in 'relax' mode.
(wanted to quote your message... but apparently, I did not understand how to do. Though I select / highlight the message with the mouse, then click 'Post a reply'... nothing happens )

I just finished the game for the second time and didn't get the trophy for not losing a life! Arrrggghh! All that for nothing. I guess there's nothing to be done but to play again, right? By the way, I was careful not to lose a life but didn't get the trophy anyway. Sometimes these games are too much like real life.

Oh, Sister !! I'm so sorry for you... All the more, this CoR2 is kind of difficult... Anyway, even though you did not get the trophy for all these efforts, I do admire you, and sincerely congratulate you for playing the game ENTIRELY, TWO times !!!
But I understand your disappointment... ummm... maybe you should have a break, and go back to games that you feel more comfortable with... That's what I did with HOG. Looks more like 'holidays' for me, after too many headaches with Match-3, though I'm glad those headaches got me a number of trophies !!! (... like you did as well)
I'm sure you'll make it !! And hopefully, some gurus will give you tips, so that, next time, you get that trophy

Sister, did you play all the way through the game without ever running out of resources so the game had to use a life?
When I first started playing COR2 I interpreted that (no loss of life) as meaning more or less the perfect game - i.e., never having to BUY resources to continue a board, because I thought it would interpret that as 'purchasing' life - LOL. I can't tell you how many times I started over in persuit of the 'perfect' game. (I did make it all the way to level 95, though) Then Avi and Moira straightened me out.
So, in a nutshell, you can use resources to extend your time on a board, without affecting that trophy. However, if you run out of resources, you will lose a life. If during play, you run out of time and you are presented with the opportunity to use resources, if you chose the option that says 'no' (meaning don't use resources) then you will lose a life and the board begins again. If you use resources and finish the board before your resources run out, then you don't lose a life. Hope this helps.

Thanks, Tex. The first time I played, I accidentally chose 'no' when prompted to use resources to buy more time, so I knew I lost a life and wouldn't get the trophy for losing no lives during the entire game. This time through I was very careful to always buy time with resources, so I was a bit upset when I finished the entire game without surrendering a life and didn't get the trophy. *sigh* But, life goes on. I'm taking castaway_addict's suggestion and working on Letters from Nowhere 1 & 2 for a little while before pulling my socks up and getting back to CoR2 one more time in hopes of winning them all. Cheers!

If really you never lost a life... maybe there's a problem with your copy of the game, and maybe you should contact support@awem.com
Or... personally, sometimes I was surprised that the game stopped, whereas I had not completed the board... Then I had to start it again (the last board... not the full game) !? After some time, I understood that I had very little resources, and in fact, not enough to buy time, that's why the message 'do you want to buy extra time ?' had not even been displayed ... Maybe this happened to you, too, but you did not realise... And that would be the reason why you lost lives (even if you did not notice it...)
Anyway, hope you're enjoying your break with LFN 1 & 2. As for me, back to CoE, timed mode (though you sound quite desesperate, after reading your earlier message, I felt like trying that very last trophy !!) 8 lives already, so many hours on the PC... and having fun anyway, though it's getting quite redundant, and I prefer HOGs or simulation games But at least, with CoE, timed mode is not as terribly difficult as with CoR2 !!

Maybe there's a problem, maybe I missed something . . . I don't know. Anyway, it's just a game and I'll enjoy playing again in a while. Spring semester just ended so I'm looking forward to a couple of weeks off to play all I want!

You must be a parent. For teachers and students it's just the opposite! Except for some of my students - who play games in the back of the class.

Nope, I'm a teacher. We have a schedule that's a bit strange. Spring semester just ended, and summer semester begins in 3 weeks and runs for 10 weeks. It's a community college and we never seem to have breaks, etc., in concert with the state university, which is also located in this city. Don't know why. I play during the semester to be sure, but when break comes, I can play guilt free without a stack of papers looking at me like a neglected puppy.
Sister - before you play again, check the version number of the game that you have and make sure it is version 1.1.4. If it is earlier than this version, redownload the latest version. That might make a difference.

Thanks, Tex. I don't see a build number on the game. I looked around but missed it somehow. It's just a little quirk in a game--what's one more little quirk in modern life? I decided that I misclicked again in the heat of 'battle' and surrendered a life accidentally, but I'm sure I didn't because the level didn't end and then start over from the beginning. We'll never know what happened and I'm now back in the game again determined to get that darned trophy!
I'll send you my stack of term papers if you send me yours, Sister. Mine are annotated bibliographies on upper level topics (with pretty involved annotations). I also added a stack of essay tests to the pile this afternoon. The higher the pile gets, the more I play games to escape - there's something wrong with that logic.
Sister, the build number is in the extreme upper right corner of the main page (where you can choose players, options, etc.) on top of the 'extras' ribbon, if you have the CE.
