Golden Trails 3: The Guardian's Creed Developer's Diary. Part I
<div style="text-align: justify;">Our awem team is grateful to fans like you for buckling up to play Golden Trails. Thanks to your desire for great adventures and puzzles, we've decided to continue the series. Here we give you a peek into the development process and share a few secrets.<br><br><span style="font-weight: bold;"><br></span><h3><span style="font-weight: bold;">Choosing the Theme</span></h3>When we started working on <span style="font-weight: bold;">Golden Trails 3</span>, we wanted to create a new experience while improving the game. As you know, the Golden Trails series began as a traditional Western that morphed into a story about pirates. Now we take you to another world, the world of Templars.<br><a target="" title="" href="www.awem.com/golden-trails-3-the-guardians-creed.html"><br></a><a target="" title="" href="http://www.awem.com/golden-trails-3-the-guardians-creed.html"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Golden Trails 3: The Guardian’s Creed</span></a> is based on the many legends about the Templars. The Templars theme has grown popular in recent years, and its stories intrigued our team. We've done pirates and cowboys, so the next theme was a no-brainer.<br><br><br><div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="" src="http://www.awem.com/images/blog/golden-trails-3-the-guardians-creed-developers-diary-part-i/golden-trails-3-developers-diary-part-1-pic01.jpg" align="none"><br></div><span style="font-style: italic; color: rgb(102, 102, 102);">Our artists wanted to delve into fantasy realms and let their imaginations fly. We had to rope ourselves down and remember this was a continuation of the "Golden Trails" series. We put our heads together to find a way to create a realistic setting while capturing the mysteries of Templars.</span><br><br><br><h3><span style="font-weight: bold;">Creating the Atmosphere</span></h3>Although the events take place at the turn of the 18th century, the player gets a taste of medieval history, the epoch when the Order of Knight Templars originated. The mysteries of Templars spill over into the story as its past affects the <span style="font-weight: bold;">Golden Trails 3</span> characters' lives.<br><br><br><div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="" src="http://www.awem.com/images/blog/golden-trails-3-the-guardians-creed-developers-diary-part-i/golden-trails-3-developers-diary-part-1-pic02.jpg" align="none"><br></div><span style="color: rgb(102, 102, 102); font-style: italic;">Details such as ivy on the walls, characters in monks' robes, and Latin writing in stone transport players to medieval times.</span><br><br><br>A few of the locations represent medieval times.<br><br><div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="" src="http://www.awem.com/images/blog/golden-trails-3-the-guardians-creed-developers-diary-part-i/golden-trails-3-developers-diary-part-1-pic03.jpg" align="none"><br></div><span style="color: rgb(102, 102, 102); font-style: italic;">Spiritual inscriptions, medieval armory, and statues contribute to the medieval atmosphere in the game.</span><br><br><br><h3><span style="font-weight: bold;">Developing the Main Characters</span></h3>All the characters must meet our high standards and, of course, represent the time they live in. So we had to work on every little detail of each character – from clothing and hair style to facial expressions and poses.<br><br> <br><div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="" src="http://www.awem.com/images/blog/golden-trails-3-the-guardians-creed-developers-diary-part-i/golden-trails-3-developers-diary-part-1-pic04.jpg" align="none"><br></div><span style="color: rgb(102, 102, 102); font-style: italic;">Jacques, the main character. He needed to look young and energetic. After creating his face, our artists sketched his clothes working their way through every little detail. Here is the result. Find ten differences</span> <img src="/bitrix/components/awem/forum.topic.read/templates/.default/smile/24.gif"><br><br><br><br><div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="" src="http://www.awem.com/images/blog/golden-trails-3-the-guardians-creed-developers-diary-part-i/golden-trails-3-developers-diary-part-1-pic05.jpg" align="none"><br></div><span style="color: rgb(102, 102, 102); font-style: italic;">You can see how the little things make a big difference to the character. It takes time to polish the drawings to make it perfect.</span><br><br><br><br><div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="" src="http://www.awem.com/images/blog/golden-trails-3-the-guardians-creed-developers-diary-part-i/golden-trails-3-developers-diary-part-1-pic06.jpg" align="none"><br></div><span style="color: rgb(102, 102, 102); font-style: italic;">Gentle and romantic Giselle. This character has to be tender and lighthearted. It's hard to resist her deep blue eyes.</span><br><br><br><br><div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="" src="http://www.awem.com/images/blog/golden-trails-3-the-guardians-creed-developers-diary-part-i/golden-trails-3-developers-diary-part-1-pic07.jpg" align="none"><br></div><span style="color: rgb(102, 102, 102); font-style: italic;">Nasty, selfish Count de Moreau. The second picture looks more representative of the count’s personality than the first one.</span><br><br><br>It's true that our artists and designers have a magical touch.<br><br>We'll continue highlighting the main points of the development process. Next time, we'll talk about the new features of <span style="font-weight: bold;">Golden Trails 3: The Guardian’s</span> <span style="font-weight: bold;">Creed</span>. Don’t miss it!<br><br><br></div>

The Island: Castaway 2 Review. Explore the Familiar Paths Anew
<div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Pros:</span> engaging story, good visual representation, quests <br><span style="font-weight: bold;">Cons:</span> local language terms<br><br>The catchy story of the mystic island returns. <a target="" title="" href="http://www.awem.com/the-island:-castaway-2.html"><span style="font-weight: bold;">The Island: Castaway 2</span></a> mixes simulation with adventure in revealing the intriguing history of the island. You travel back in time to explore the familiar yet different island.<br><br>Except for its layout, the island looks the same as <a target="" title="" href="http://www.awem.com/the-island-castaway.html"><span style="font-weight: bold;">The Island: Castaway</span></a>. As you venture around the island, questions pop up. Why did the tribe leave the old village? What did the sanctuary use to look like? Whose skeletons were in the cave? You can find the answers to these questions in <span style="font-weight: bold;">The Island: Castaway 2</span>.<br><br><br><div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="" src="http://www.awem.com/images/blog/the-island-castaway-2-review/the-island-castaway-2-review-01.jpg" align="none"><br></div><br><br>You play teenage islander Yati, an orphan raised by the tribe. It gives you a unique opportunity to be part of the tribe while delving into its secrets. The fate of the tribe rests in your hands. You become a binding link between the tribe, the shaman, and the strangers on the island. But don't break the rules or you'll experience the tribe's wrath!<br><br><br><div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="" src="http://www.awem.com/images/blog/the-island-castaway-2-review/the-island-castaway-2-review-02.jpg" align="none"><br></div><br><br>Eventually, Yati has to solve the riddles of the Totem, pass a test, and further his place in the tribe. He'd like to become a brave hunter, but the story takes an unexpected turn.<br><br><br><div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="" src="http://www.awem.com/images/blog/the-island-castaway-2-review/the-island-castaway-2-review-03.jpg" align="none"><br></div><br><br>Many quests await you in <span style="font-weight: bold;">The Island: Castaway 2</span>. You'll collect fruit, hunt birds and wild boars, cook, go fishing, talk to people, and create recipes. You'll have a bag to carry items, recipes, and potions. You'll need to master those potions to survive.<br><br><br><div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="" src="http://www.awem.com/images/blog/the-island-castaway-2-review/the-island-castaway-2-review-04.jpg" align="none"><br></div><br><br>Brief help notes guide you through the game. All the tasks appear at the bottom of the screen and you can work on them whenever you like. The map helps when you need to find the right person. The map contains stars that show you where each character is located. Some stars are yellow meaning you the person wants to talk to you. Red stars indicate you have a quest to complete for that person. And the green star is a completed quest. <br><br><br><div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="" src="http://www.awem.com/images/blog/the-island-castaway-2-review/the-island-castaway-2-review-05.jpg" align="none"><br></div><br>The mystic island is dangerous especially for those who aren't familiar with its traditions. This time the snakes are not as aggressive as they were in the original game. They don't bite unless you touch what they're guarding. However, those ever-hungry crocodiles, or teeth-a-lots as the tribe calls them, take over. Be on the alert while going to the Marshy or Ancestors Wood. If you aren't careful, you'll faint. Although you have unlimited lives, you could lose something precious from your bag.<br><br><div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="" src="http://www.awem.com/images/blog/the-island-castaway-2-review/the-island-castaway-2-review-06.jpg" align="none"><br></div><br><br>You have to manage a lot of things in the game. And your efforts are rewarded with trophies that you can earn for collecting things, trading, hunting, improving tools, or helping the professor to find rare items. These collection of rare items is much bigger the collection of statues in <span style="font-weight: bold;">The Island: Castaway</span>.<br><br><br><div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="" src="http://www.awem.com/images/blog/the-island-castaway-2-review/the-island-castaway-2-review-07.jpg" align="none"><br></div><br><br>Local names for plants add an authenticity to the game's atmosphere. Watermelons turn into stripeys, potatoes into earth apples, turnips into sweet roots. You'll feel like you've been cast away to another world in <span style="font-weight: bold;">The Island: Castaway 2</span>.<br><br><br></div>

Golden Trails 2: The Lost Legacy Review. Explore the World in Search of Gold
<div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Pros:</span> good quality sequel, detailed visuals, search variety<br><br><span style="font-weight: bold;">Cons:</span> jigsaw puzzle story<br><br>Where will the Awem team send the players this time? In this hidden object game sequel to <a target="" title="" href="http://www.awem.com/golden-trails:-the-new-western-rush.html"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Golden Trails: The New Western Rush</span></a>, you embark on a journey in search of a lost pirate’s treasure. <a target="" title="" href="http://www.awem.com/golden-trails-2-the-lost-legacy.html"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Golden Trails 2: The Lost Legacy</span></a> takes place in England during the 18th century. You play the young and handsome Henry. The opening cut-scene reveals that the notorious Captain Morgan accuses your grandfather of piracy and condemns him to death. <br><br>The only way to save your grandfather is to do what Morgan asks, which is to find the missing logbook from the pirate ship and give it to him. Henry, of course, can't let his grandfather rot in jail and sets off to find clues to the mysteries of his family’s legacy.<br><br><br><div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="" src="http://www.awem.com/images/blog/golden-trails-2-the-lost-legacy-review/golden-trails-2-the-lost-legacy-review-01.jpg" align="none"><br></div><br><br>The sequel takes on a darker and more mysterious tone than <span style="font-weight: bold;">Golden Trails: The New Western Rush</span>. From the beginning, the game captivates you with its unexpected twists and turns as you travel around the world, including England, Spain, South America, Africa and the Caribbean.<br><br><br><div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="" src="http://www.awem.com/images/blog/golden-trails-2-the-lost-legacy-review/golden-trails-2-the-lost-legacy-review-02.jpg" align="none"><br></div><br><br>You'd never expect to connect old England with pirates, exotic islands and sunny Maghreb, yet it all ties together nicely. If you read all the cut-scenes and dialogs, you'll enjoy the peculiarities of the plot and learn new and surprising things about your grandfather.<br><br><br><div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="" src="http://www.awem.com/images/blog/golden-trails-2-the-lost-legacy-review/golden-trails-2-the-lost-legacy-review-03.jpg" align="none"><br></div><br><br>The game play largely resembles <span style="font-weight: bold;">Golden Trails: The New Western Rush</span>, except it has more polish. All the hidden items appear at the bottom of the screen in a panel. Players familiar with Awem games and its tricks in presenting items at a different angle and scale will discover a challenge in finding some of the hidden objects. The game offers three options: items in plain sight, inventory items and those that more time and effort to uncover. <br><br><br><div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="" src="http://www.awem.com/images/blog/golden-trails-2-the-lost-legacy-review/golden-trails-2-the-lost-legacy-review-04.jpg" align="none"><br></div><br><br>When you see on a hotspot on the screen, it appears highlighted in either yellow or blue. As in <span style="font-weight: bold;">Golden Trails: The New Western Rush</span>, yellow means you can do something immediate, while the blue one requires an item from your inventory to dig it out. Some of the items hide in other locations, so take your time and read the help. Players also have more to find including lucky clovers and lost items. While not necessary to finish the game, finding them all gets trophies and more points.<br><br><br><div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="" src="http://www.awem.com/images/blog/golden-trails-2-the-lost-legacy-review/golden-trails-2-the-lost-legacy-review-05.jpg" align="none"><br></div><br><span style="font-weight: bold;"><br>Golden Trails 2: The Lost Legacy</span> features many puzzles and mini-games. Unlike <span style="font-weight: bold;">Golden Trails: The New Western Rush</span>, puzzles show up in locations. The sequel also offers a bigger variety of mini-games. Puzzles and games aren't overly complex, yet they challenge players enough to keep them interested without the frustration. Some have you arranging items in the correct order, matching pairs of symbols and putting maps together to find clues. <br><br><br><div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="" src="http://www.awem.com/images/blog/golden-trails-2-the-lost-legacy-review/golden-trails-2-the-lost-legacy-review-06.jpg" align="none"><br></div><br><br>One of the fun features in the original Golden Trails is the shooting gallery where players can shoot bandits. That's also available in the sequel, except now you need to be careful not to shoot innocent citizens.<br><br><br><div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="" src="http://www.awem.com/images/blog/golden-trails-2-the-lost-legacy-review/golden-trails-2-the-lost-legacy-review-07.jpg" align="none"><br></div><br><span style="font-weight: bold;"><br>Golden Trails 2: The Lost Legacy</span> trophy room houses your trophies, so you can check your achievements. The graphics immerse you in the world of Old England and the other places the game takes you. You'll explore the bottom of the sea, a sunken ship in the Caribbean and the sands in North Africa. <br><br><br><div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="" src="http://www.awem.com/images/blog/golden-trails-2-the-lost-legacy-review/golden-trails-2-the-lost-legacy-review-08.jpg" align="none"><br></div><br><br>The appealing characters round out the story with many minor characters adding to the plot. All of them are reflect the times and locations in the game. Combine all the elements and you have a high quality hidden object game in <span style="font-weight: bold;">Golden Trails 2: The Lost Legacy</span>. Try your hand at tracking down many objects and following a thrilling treasure hunting story.<br><br><br></div>

Cradle Of Egypt Review. Build your empire
<span style="font-weight: bold;">Pros:</span> smooth and addictive gameplay, brilliant hand-drawn graphics
<br>
<span style="font-weight: bold;">Cons:</span> few renovations options
<br><br><a target="_blank" title="Cradle Of Egypt" href="http://www.awem.com/cradle-of-egypt.html"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Cradle Of Egypt</span></a> is the fourth installment of the successful <span style="font-style: italic;">Cradle series</span>, which include <a target="_blank" title="Cradle Of Rome" href="http://www.awem.com/cradle-of-rome.html"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Cradle Of Rome</span></a>, <a target="_blank" title="Cradle Of Rome 2" href="http://www.awem.com/cradle-of-rome-2.html"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Cradle Of Rome 2</span></a> and <a target="_blank" title="Cradle Of Persia" href="http://www.awem.com/cradle-of-persia.html"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Cradle Of Persia</span></a>. It continues giving players the opportunity to build grand empires, this time it takes place in the charming atmosphere of ancient Egypt.
<br><br><div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="Cradle Of Egypt" src="http://www.awem.com/images/blog/cardle-of-egypt-review/cardle-of-egypt-review-02.jpg" align="none"><br></div><br>In <span style="font-weight: bold;">Cradle Of Egypt</span>, you embark on an journey through Egyptian lands. The opening cut-scene comes from Egyptian mythology. It reveals the story of Egypt’s creation involving you in the story as its creator. <span style="font-weight: bold;">Cradle Of Egypt</span> features 100 exciting levels of match three game play within five epochs of this ancient civilization. Starting from a plain valley, you build and improve your settlement that slowly grows into a prosperous empire. You have the opportunity to build famous landmarks such as Colossi of Memnon, the Great Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx.
<br><br><div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="Cradle Of Egypt" src="../../images/blog/cardle-of-egypt-review/cardle-of-egypt-review-01.jpg" align="none"><br></div><br>Though the game theme has changed, the development team clearly put in great effort to make the Cradle fans feel at home. And, they've succeeded. The basic game play largely resembles the previous Cradle games. You match the tiles to score points and collect resources for improving your land. You get extra points for making combos, matching five or more tiles, completing mini-games and earning trophies. As in the previous Cradle games, you acquire a new status upon completing each epoch. You begin as a farmer and work your way up to pharaoh.<br><br><div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="Cradle Of Egypt" src="http://www.awem.com/images/blog/cardle-of-egypt-review/cardle-of-egypt-review-03.jpg" align="none"><br></div><br><span style="font-weight: bold;">Cradle Of Egypt</span> hides lots of surprises for players to discover. For example, when players match four of the same tiles, they receive a treasure chest. Secrets also hide in the power-ups, so be prepared for some loud sound effects. All the different types of tile have a connection with the story as they're items of importance to ancient Egyptians, such as beer, honey and pyramids. The improved mini-games have more variety and bigger challenges than those in <span style="font-weight: bold;">Cradle Of Rome 2</span>. It takes a few hours of play to spot all the differences and enjoy the game to the fullest.
<br><br><div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="Cradle Of Egypt" src="http://www.awem.com/images/blog/cardle-of-egypt-review/cardle-of-egypt-review-04.jpg" align="none"><br></div><br>New in this game is the choice of playing Time or Relaxed mode in Adventure mode. Relaxed mode has no timer, so players can relax and enjoy the game. In addition to Adventure mode, Cradle of Egypt includes Tourney and Blitz modes. These also appeared in Cradle Of Rome 2 with some improvements that make them more challenging and rewarding.
<br><br>What you do in Tourney mode affects the city. You have the opportunity to earn medals, statues of goddesses and cups that appear in your virtual city. In Tourney mode, you can choose any level you have completed in Adventure mode and race against the clock. To unlock Blitz mode requires completing Adventure mode. In Blitz, you choose the difficulty level and play as many levels as you can before time runs out.
<br><br><div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="Cradle Of Egypt" src="http://www.awem.com/images/blog/cardle-of-egypt-review/cardle-of-egypt-review-06.jpg" align="none"><br></div><br>The Collector's Edition comes with extras including tips and tricks, original soundtracks, wallpapers, puzzles, bonus challenges and a developer’s diary that gives you the inside story in the making of the game.
<br><br>The eye-catching game takes you to picturesque locations with sumptuous hand-drawn graphics. You can view the animated backgrounds by pressing the space bar. A final cut-scene awaits those who complete the entire game. It's not the same as the previous <span style="font-style: italic;">Cradle games</span>, offering something new to fans.
<br><br><div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="Cradle Of Egypt" src="http://www.awem.com/images/blog/cardle-of-egypt-review/cardle-of-egypt-review-05.jpg" align="none"><br></div><br><span style="font-weight: bold;">Cradle Of Egypt</span> has something for everyone with its beautiful graphics, relaxing music and intuitive game play. While the game has little innovation, this match three puzzle game offers a lot as players explore the lands of the Pharaohs and enjoy some of the most amazing landmarks ever created.<br><br>
